With every New Year, come new resolutions.
As I write this, I am extremely hung-over from last night's celebrations. Even though I feel like I've caught the death, I feel good about myself. Because for the last couple of weeks I have been going on about my New Years Resolutions for 2014 to anyone and everyone. Now, I have made resolutions in the past before, but have never been able to keep them, like a lot of people. But this year is different. I can feel it. This is my year. It is going to be a killer year!
My resolutions are as follows:
Firstly, I want to talk about the alcohol resolution. I love to have a drink. Often. And a lot of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an alcoholic (as much as my friends say I am). I am a binge drinker. I don't need to drink; I just like doing it in excess. I've never seen the point in stopping at one drink, when you can go all out, put a bunch of drinks away, and enjoy the night so much more than the sober drivers who are sitting in the corner, playing on Facebook on their phones, not enjoying themselves.

It is going to be a killer year!
My resolutions are as follows:
- Not a drop of alcohol for the entire year
- No soft drink for the year
- Complete in every single Tough Mudder event in Australasia in 2014
Firstly, I want to talk about the alcohol resolution.
Recently, over the last few months, it has come to my attention that a lot of my friends believe that I am actually an alcoholic. This is the main reason why I have decided on this resolution for the year. To prove to all my friends that I am not an alcoholic, and am in total control of my life. I don't like being told what to do, or what I am, so you could say I'm doing this resolution just to stick it up everyone.
My only fear with this resolution is not that I will break it, but that I will become one of those sober boring people at the pub, on my phone flicking through boring cat post after boring baby photo on Facebook, because everyone else around me is on the sauce. I will NOT become one of those people. I am not boring, I am the life of the party, with or without the sauce.
My second resolution of not drinking soft drink for the year won't be too hard for me at all. I only drink maybe a few glasses of soft drink a week currently anyways. I just threw this resolution in as an afterthought, just to prove that I am mentally strong enough to withhold from myself. I have been told I have an addictive personality, and wanted to break away from this stigma.
And just to keep everybody off my back, I classify soft drink as Coke or Pepsi, the likes of those. I do not classify Red Bull or V as a soft drink, but more of a energy drink. I feel with no drinking this year, when I am to go out with friends, I will need something to keep me awake till 5am dancing the night away! As these are MY resolutions, I can classify these drinks anyway that I want. Red Bull is allowed. It has been spoken!
And finally, onto my biggest resolution of the year; to complete every single Tough Mudder in Australia and New Zealand in 2014. Not only to go to each event, but to run each event on both the Saturday and Sunday.
I have run in two Tough Mudder events before, one in March and the other in September 2013, both in Melbourne. Having run these events before, I have a fair idea what to expect in 2014. I hope...
So far, there are 7 Tough Mudder's scheduled this year. That's 14 laps of the 20km course, or 280km, or over 6 and a half marathons this year. I am not a fan of running, but it looks like im going to have to love it to make it through this year! The 7 Mudder events are:
I feel like I will have to do lots of training this year, if I am to complete both Saturday and Sundays of all 7 events. I don't like running, but I will suck it up, and become the machine I was always destined for.
I will leave you for now, but make sure you look out for the Tough Mudder Tour 2014. It will be an epic year, that is for sure! I am now off to go lie down and will away this almighty hangover. The last for the year, I keep telling myself ...
