Recently, the Tough Mudder Tour 2014 has been getting a lot of publicity, and are on the verge of becoming famous. Just prior to the Sunshine Coast Tough Mudder (check out the review), TMtour2014 and myself were featured on the front page of the local The Whitehorse Leader newspaper. Apparently my (crazy) idea of running in all 5 Australian and 1 New Zealand Tough Mudders this year is quite a story! The interview and photo shoot were taken in a park in my area (not on course of a Tough Mudder event unfortunately), on a very cold and rainy Friday afternoon.
The interview didn't take very long at all, but the photo shoot took well over an hour in the freezing cold rain, and being covered in mud didn't help - it felt like an hour long Arctic Enema! Below are some of the photos not used in the paper, and some behind the scenes photos taken by TMtour2014's Laura.
In the same week as the interview came out, I was asked to help out a mate, Troy Nankervis, by doing an interview for a radio package for uni. It was just a few minutes long, yet we covered a range of topics including our tour this year, how it started, what it involves and about Tough Mudder in general. It eventually helped Troy to get a distinction, so I think it went pretty well! Have a listen below.
Even with running 6 events this year in Australasia, 2 or 3 laps at each one, I never thought I'd get noticed or recognised by anyone this year. Yes, I'll personally have run at least 14 laps of Tough Mudder this year, and 16 over the last 2 years, but still, to be recognised by the pump up MC before a race, or from the volunteer on top of Fire in Your Hole on the Sunshine Coast, or even someone that has run Melbourne and Sunshine Coast this year at the same time as me, it just blows my mind.
I love talking to other Tough Mudder enthusiasts who are running multiple laps at an event, or multiple events in a year. Those guys and gals are crazy, and I totally relate with them, but the best feelings I've received this year are when first timers coming to me before an event and ask for help or questions about what to expect. Not to blow my own horn (quite a lot of that in this post, sorry!), but I feel like after 8 Mudders (currently), I have a wealth of knowledge to help almost anyone through their event, be it their first time or tenth.

But enough about me, I want to hear more from our readers! First time Mudders or Legionnaires, hit us up with your favourite Tough Mudder stories!
