A couple days ago on Monday, after the Melbourne Mudder weekend, I woke up, and my legs were the tightest and sorest they've ever been, especially my calves. They had been tight since the midpoint of Saturdays run, and hadn't let up much since (except for a brief 10 minutes after my sander massage Sunday post run). My quads were pretty bad too, after being fine all weekend. I could barely walk at all.
I was walking with such an old man hobble and at such a slow pace, I felt like yelling at street youths to get off my front lawn. I was unable to bend down and reach my feet to put socks and shoes on, because of my hip flexors being incredibly painful. It was a struggle getting out of bed at all!
I eventually was able to dress myself, and drove around to Mum's, and had a Radox filled bath for 45 minutes, followed by using her calf massager then the foot massager. I felt so much better after these treatments, and was able to walk close to normally, albeit slowly. I found that if I was moving around, I was fine, but if I sat down for a couple minutes, my lower body seized up again.

I coach an under 16's hockey team for Camberwell Hockey Club this year, and had training Monday night. It was definitely a slow and easy training session, as I couldn't run around with the team at all.
Yesterday, Tuesday, my hip flexors were pretty much back to full health, and pain free. As they were my biggest problem over the weekend, I was glad to get rid of that pain! My quads were 100% at this point, and it was just my calves that were still an issue, although not a big problem. They were still a little tight, making me walk strangely still.
Today I feel I am back to 100%. My calves have all but loosened up, and I am walking normally. A couple more days of rest, and I'm jumping straight back into training. My down fall over the past weekend was not doing any prior training (due to my shoulder). I feel if I had trained properly, I would have smashed out the run quicker, easier, and not felt as stiff and sore overall.
The 1000 steps will once again become my bitch, and I will finally be able to try out my altitude training mask properly. New Zealand in a month's time for the TMTour2014 runs #3 and #4. Looking forward to the trip, as I haven't been to New Zealand since 2004.
I shall update you all with how everything is going soon.
