Sydney Tough Mudder is upon us, and I just thought I'd take a little time out of my carb loading and pre event rituals to write up a quick post about my own personal expectations and goals for this weekend.
This Tough Mudder is set to be the biggest event in Australia this year, having the most starting wave times. On Saturday, the first wave (not including the Operation First Dawn) is at 8am, and the last wave being released will be 1:15pm. If my maths is correct, that's 22 waves on just Saturday alone.
On Sunday, the first wave is at 9am, and the last will be 10:45 - 8 waves being released.

So, with this amount of waves being released, this will be my best opportunity to complete the most amount of laps in a weekend possible. Last months Perth event I was able to complete 2 laps of Saturday and 1 lap on Sunday. This, at the moment, is my best weekend. I am looking to thrash that this weekend in Sydney!
I will be running in the first wave at 8am. After this, I am planning on getting a minimum of 3 laps total of Saturday complete, with the goal of finishing up 4 laps.
For this to happen, I will need to run my first 3 laps in sub 2 hour blocks, to get back in time to jump in the last 1:15pm wave. As this is the last wave, it'll most likely be a walk for myself. I don't think I'll have much left in the tank after 60km in the first 3 laps!
Now that is the best case scenario. Worst case is by the time I get back after my second lap, there isn't enough time to do another lap before 1:15pm. If this is the case, I will just start my 3rd and final lap of the day - defeated, yes, but still very happy with that achievement.
So that's Saturday's plan. On Sunday, to get 2 laps in, I would need to run a sub 1 hour 45 minute first lap. After Saturdays performance, I'm not sure how that will go. My goal is to complete 2 laps on Sunday as well though. You can probably tell I set high standards for myself!

So that's my personal goals for this Sydney Tough Mudder event this weekend. 4 laps complete on Saturday, and 2 laps complete on Sunday. Those 6 laps would take my overall total to 17 completed.
But in all honesty, I think I will only be able to get 3 laps Sat, and 1 lap Sunday. That is still a hell of an effort, if I don't say so myself! I'm not one for talking myself up (that is a complete and utter lie) but I don't know or have heard of any Australian completing 4 laps in a weekend in an Aussie Tough Mudder event. I'll take that record with great pride!
But to complete 6 laps this weekend? That's World Toughest Mudder material right there! Speaking of which, TMtour2014's mate Matt Ansley is currently over in Vegas running the WTM2014. Hope you kill it Matty!

And that about wraps up my night, Mudders! Wish me luck for my goal of 6 laps this weekend! I know this is completely reaching for the stars, but I will 100% complete 4 though, which I'd still be ecstatic about!
If anyone is attending this Sydney event, come find myself and the Tough Mudder Tour 2014 crew in the first waves on both days, or around Mudder Village over the weekend! Or better yet, come have a drink with us Saturday night at Apres Mud!

EDIT POST SYDNEY EVENT
So I was unable to reach my goals of 6 laps in the weekend, only completing 3 laps on Saturday, and 1 lap on Sunday. There just wasn't enough time for myself to get back for the extra laps. The course was so brutal, that it took longer than any other course this year to complete!
The Sydney Event Review will be uploaded in the next day, so you can read more about the course, and how I did in that. Thankyou everyone for the support this last weekend though! It really helped me get through a rugged and brutal 80km of Mud and obstacles!
